Photography 1

Digital

Film

At the beginning of Photography, I didn't have much experience I was only taking photos on my phone. At the beginning of quorter one, I was Confused and I struggled most of the time until I got the hang of whatever I was doing, It became much easier. At the beginning some of my photos were good and some were not good at all. At the beginning of the quarter one, I thought I was going to fail this class because I wasn't getting the best grades and I felt like I needed to get my grade higher. I ended up doing just that. Once I got my grade up I started to really enjoy this class, this was the same for film. In film, I learned from my multiple mistakes but I know that if I was taking photography 2 that my photos would be so much stronger, I'm planning to take photography 2 next year.

In digital at the beginning of the first quarter my very first photos were not horrible but once I became less creative with my photos, the photos became really bad in multiple ways. For example, some of them were over edited when they didn't need that much color, or they didn't need to be dark. Once half of the first quarter was over I had gotten a good camera and my images became more clear, better quality, and "raw". Also, I became more excited to take the photos even though it was a little stressful to get some bigger projects done on time. In film, It took me a little longer to understand but after learning from my mistakes and asking my peers and teacher, it also became easier near the end.

At the beginning of this quarter, my photos were gray and unclear. There would always be at most three processing errors, for example, the border isn't perfect or there is a lighter spot or even a water stain that was left on the film and I didn't see it. In digital what was hardest for me was having creative photos, especially for the artist inspired images. I tried my best to not have only photos of in my house, in my back yard or at school, but with my tight schedule, I could only got to a different location once. Though some of my best photos in digital are in school. Some of my best photos are on the Durham/Lisbon bridge. In film what was hardest for me was having the best apatcher, not having blurry images, having lighter spots, not having a good border, rolling the film onto the wreal which always became twisted. Still, I had trouble with blurry images at the end of the quarter. In digital, I can't disided what image im most proud of and what my strongest image is. My two favorites are the photos of a silhouette image of me in a split on the table and the black and white image of the pair of sneakers. In film, my favorite image is the picture of my fridge because I think It's the clearest and is exposed the best as well. In conclusion, even with some stressful projects, this class is my favorite and I am planning to take photography two next year.
