Time Capsules

There isn’t really a story in my artwork besides for the water bottle I chose to draw because it’s something I rely on on a daily and it is used a lot throughout the day. Also my hand and cropped self portrait don’t have a major story because I was just doing what the directions said.My project relates to my life because I drew it, it was my water bottle and it was me for the self portrait. I chose to draw the sections and things the way they are because I wanted them to look different from other people in the class. I didn’t want my face to the cut off where everyone else’s was. I didn’t want my hand in the same position other people were as well. And finally, I chose to do a water bottle because what I said above, I thought that maybe not everyone would draw a water bottle.

My work was made with a 2D pencil, a B pencil, paper, a tortillon and tape. I used the pencils to draw the actual subject of the drawing, the paper as the surface of the drawing, the tortillon to smudge and make the objects look a little more realistic and finally tape so I didn’t go outside the border line.

Processes that I used to create my piece of artwork was first using a very light pencil to sketch the outlines of where I wanted to draw to make sure the proportions were correct and to the way I wanted them to be, then next I took a darker pencil to create and make the pieces of artwork look more realistic with lines to create text and form. My project evolved over time for the cropped self portrait because at the beginning I didn’t want the part that is showing to be my forehead I wanted it to be the bottom half of my face but then I changed my mind and decided to do something different. Also at first I my water bottle was kind of just the outline so it evolved over time to have more shading and contrast in the overall end result. My next steps would probably would be to clean up my pieces of artwork a little bit more and make them all a little bit more realistic and add more texture like it has in real life and overall just take it all to the next level that it could reach.
