Circle Project

Starfish

9x13in

So I wanted to do an animal, and I wanted to do pointillism, a star fish already has pointillism, so I thought it would be a good idea because a starfish already has some features of pointillism. This project relates to my life because I was the one who painted and came up with doing the starfish. I also love ocean life so I decided to do an ocean life scene because it is something I enjoy in my life. I chose to paint what I made which is a starfish because I thought the colors would look unique compared to the duller background of the sand so I decided to make it with more vibrant colors.

What I used to paint my starfish was canvas paper, a 2D pencil to border the starfish before going in with the paints so I didn't mess up the shape I wanted the starfish to be , acrylic paint, and I also used a tiny bit of sharpie to add in some more circles because my project doesn't really make me thing "circles" and it is a circle project.

Over time my project evolved because I was getting a little bored with having to do pointillism and dots 24/7 every class, so I experimented with trying to paint the background first then adding dots on that paint so I didn't have to do as many dots. But then I realized that the two different sections didn't look the same do I started working to make it look the same again. I also wasn't going to add the rock and plant but at the end my project was pretty boring in my opinion so I decided to add those things so there would be a little more stuff happening in my project. My next steps could be to add more circles so it would be more involved in the name of the "circle project."
