Roller Skates
9x11in
For this Stars and stripes project the story is pretty much representing America through roller skates because when I think of like the 1960's America I picture parties at roller skate ranks so I went off of that idea and made it in black, white, blue and red to fit the guidelines. This project relates to my life because for one I made the project, but on a deeper level I am apart of backstage for the musical this year where some of the main characters in the play are on roller skates, from this I kind of got my idea to have my project based off of that.
For this project I used parchment paper for the surface of the project, I used a 2B pencil to outline and create the original lines for what I wanted my project to look like, then I used different colored colored pencils to add in some color and meaning into the project. I also used tape to make my border nice and clean so I wouldn't accidentally color into the outside where color isn't supposed to be.
The process i used to create this final piece of artwork was to decide what kind of paper would work best and look best in my opinion with colored pencil, then after I did that I used a pencil to figure out how I wanted the roller skates to be designed then I went on and added some stripes for the path of the roller skates then I just added in some of the color to fit the guidelines of the project. My project evolved because at first I didn't have those other red and blue lines at the top of the paper but then I realized that nothing was coming out of the roller skates so I added those in because I didn't think I had a good balance of color so I added them in to try and even that out. My next steps could probably be to clean up some of the white spots so they aren't smudging with the red, then maybe cleaning up some of the black lines I added to outline the different sections in the piece of artwork.
