Word Graphic

Freeport High School

The story for the word graphic is probably that that image kind of came to my mind when I wrote down the word. I also personally just didn't see any other ways to include fish to the word fish so it was unique from other designs so I decided to do what you see above because it is simple but also unique. For the Freeport High School word graphic there isn't really a story behind it besides the fact that I wanted to include Freeport's mascot in it because the falcon is kind of one of the center points of the school so I thought it could be a cool to include it in the graphic design.

These projects relates to my life because they are what I came up with when the project was introduced and what my mind brought me to think of when I heard the directions and the focus points. I chose to create the word graphic like I did because when I wrote out the word I saw that the S kind of had the goldfish cracker kind of shape to it so I began sketching that and I actually thought it looked really cool so I decided to build off of that idea. For the Freeport High School graphic design I decided to make what I made because I wanted to do something simple but also make it have a little uniqueness in it because I didn't want the falcon to really look like the other falcons we have for designs already at our school.

Both of these projects were made with the same tools. I used regular paper for the base of both projects, then I used a 2B pencil to draw the outline and sketch the final result of both projects, then to finish up I added in some sharpie to make the lines more thick and pronounced, for the word graphic I also used a black pen for the smaller fish so they had neater lines than what a sharpie would make.

Processes that I used to create my piece of artwork was first using a very light pencil to sketch the outlines of where I wanted to draw to make sure the proportions were correct and to the way I wanted them to be, then next I took a darker pencil to create and make the pieces of artwork look more realistic with lines to create text and form. Then I went in with a black pen provided by the art room to add in some more fine lines.

The word graphic project evolved overtime because originally the only fish I had were the ones in the S but then I thought that the rest of the word fish looked really bland and unbalanced so I decided to add in some smaller fish. The FHS graphic design evolved overtime because originally I didn't have the small parts of the falcon shaded with sharpie but then I thought that the falcon didn't have any detail so I decided to add some in to make it look a little more realistic.

My next steps for both projects could probably be to clean them up a little bit so they were neater. I feel like I could also add in some more thick lines to the fish because it doesn't look a whole lot like a logo at the moment.
