Ink, Charcoal, Graphite on Watercolor Paper
I decided to draw a picture of my dog, Luna. My goal for this art piece was to make it look realistic and match the original black and white photo. I used ink, charcoal, and graphite. To blend the charcoal, I used a tortillon to smooth the areas that were necessary and it also helped to blend the charcoal together. There were many parts where I had to revise my work and erase it and start over. For example, the flower was difficult because I struggled with making the color of the fur and the color of the flower different from each other. To solve this problem, I ended up using a 2B charcoal pencil to lightly outline the edges of each petal. This helped to be able to tell the different colors of the flower If I were to do this again, I would press harder with the white charcoal to make it look more realistic and add single strokes to make the fur look more realistic.
