Linoleum Prints

All the prints

The goal of this project was to make linoleum prints that had a clean edge, were evenly- colored and was a creative personal idea generation.

I used a linoleum block and carving tools to carve a fish with bubbles into a block. After I carved, I used ink to roll onto the linoleum to make a printed stamp. Next, I used different ink colors to create different subjects of the print. One was to make a solid color, which i chose black. The next subject was to use the solid color and draw or paint on top of it, which i did with markers. The third subject was to make a multi colored print which i did using a non-carved linoleum block which i put red ink on, and the carved linoleum block to add a blue fish. Lastly, I cut out a map to use as a unique surface and printed the fish onto the cut out map.

The most difficult part of this project was making even coats of the ink onto the linoleum block. this was difficult because every time i would print it onto paper, the ink would not be fully dispersed throughout the paper, leaving some white spots where it wasn't supposed to. If i were to do this project again, I would do a simpler design so the lines wouldn't be as close together.
