Mugs

The goal of this project was to make four mugs that were similar to each other. For this project, I made three mugs that were similar because they were the same size and had the same glaze technique, but the glaze was different colors.

To make these mugs, I did each one by using a slab and molding it around a round tennis ball container. I wrapped the container in newspaper so the the paper would gather extra moisture from the pot, making sure it dried at an even pace. I made sure each mug was 5 inches tall, then I used a slab to amek the bottom of the mug, and slipped and scored it together. After the mugs were leather hard, I removed the tennis ball container and the newspaper. I made a slab then carved out a rectangular shape for the handle. I scratch and scrred this to the mug in a position that I liked, then let it be fired. After it was fired, I used glaze to make the outside a pastel color, and the inside a black color, making sure to eave a strip of white at the bottom outside of the mug for a different design. After this, it was glaze fired.

A mistake that was made when doing this project was losing one of my mugs. Im not sure where it went, but i lost one of my mugs before it was able to be glazed.
