Monochromatic

Artist Statement:

For this photo, I was not sure what I wanted to do for a shot. I ended up doing a few different photos then decided on one. When I was coming up with different ideas I first thought of using a keyboard that I have at home The reason that I thought of this is that it is all black so the picture would be all black with white lettering on the keycaps. I ended up not doing this because even though I didn't make it black and white in photoshop, I knew it would not be very colorful in general. I took a bunch more but didn't like how they came out. So what I did was take some white gears that I had and I put them on the silver backdrop. This ended up being a metal box. When I was taking the photo I wanted to get enough lighting but not so much that it washed out the white gears.

After taking the photo I put it into photoshop. I first cropped the image a little bit but then I used the spot healing tool to take some of the rust out of the metal plate that I used. This edit worked well and made the image more monochromatic.
