For this photo, I had a lot of ideas of what to do. However, I settled on my hand installing a CPU to a motherboard. I chose this for a few reasons. The first one is that I knew from my experiences building computers that there is a lot of texture on a motherboard. I also knew that on the bottom of the CPU there were pins that could make a nice texture. The reason that I am focusing on texture is that that is what I am focusing on with my investigation question.
For the shot, I wanted to focus on lighting a lot. I knew that many of the parts on the motherboard and CPU would be metal and reflect light well. With this knowledge, I found a large lamp that I use, and I brought it over to the right of the shot. This makes it so there was a good mix of bright light and shadows that were from my hand and the CPU. When I was setting the camera up I knew that I wanted to have it low down to better capture the texture of the board. Also, I did this so I could see all the pins on the bottom of the CPU.
After the shot, I uploaded it to photoshop. I didn't do too much editing. However, I did use the burn and dodge tools to just enhance the shadows and the reflections/bright light. Overall I do like the image, I think that I did successfully capture the texture of the CPU and the motherboard. I also think that I did do a good job with the lighting that I had in mind.
