I chose this image because I like how the apple looks as if its alone in a world full of darkness. It simbolizes inoccence as if its a child surrounded by the darkness of adulthood.

I chose this image because it symbolizes the fragility if life. A tree supported by the hand of a being that can either decide to drop it and kill the tree, or hold it and presrve it's life.

Once again my motive behind this photo was purely looks. I really like the way the shadowed pattern looks on the wall.

I chose this final photo because I like how the light in the door draws the eye to my brother. I like how the darkness is almost closing in upon him.

artist statement

The project assigned to me was to take pictures that incorporated a lot of shadows and reflections. For my subjects, I used my Mom, my sister, and my brother. I used my iPhone seven to take the photos and the photos app on my school-issued laptop to edit them. I tried to vary the angles from which I took the photos and I also made an effort to change up my subjects. For this project, my mom helped me find good photos to take. For some of the photos I took, I just snapped pictures of things I thought looked cool but she helped with most of them. The only stuff I ended up changing was the lighting of the photos. Some of the photos had secondary light sources coming in at angles which weirdly lighted up the picture. I just darkened the ones where that was an issue. This project was really fun for me since I tend to like darker photos. I didn't have to do much editing which I liked. My favorite image was the photo of the fish tank. The tank has LED lights in it which make it look cool at night. I chose the fish tank just because I like how the purple-blue lighting of the tank contrasts the darkness around the photo. Most of the photos I ended up taking I liked so there wasn't much I ended up changing out. My main goal is to start photographing bigger animals that live in Maine. Like Deer, Moose, and/or Bear. I've started to ask my mom for help when it comes to my photos because she takes photos for a living and I think she could help me take better photos. I really wanna learn from her to take better photos.
