Pixelated Portrait

My work brings out my desire to be in the woods by portraying one of my idols, Dave Canterbury. He is one of the people I have learned alot from(through youtube) and drawing him really shows my personality. This project relates to my life through nature and the fact that Dave Canterbury is one of the people I look up to. I really like nature and places like the woods so that's how this art connects to me. This art was made using a drawn grid pattern(square centimeters) and oil pastel. I copied the exact colors of a square on the printed picture and then blended them all into one color inside of the squares. I used a grid pattern to find the colors in the squares(on both the drawing and the printed picture) then I took oil pastel and put the color into it. It really didn’t evolve much. The subject stayed the same and so did the colors. I did change the method of blending from just rubbing to circular movements. I really like the grid pattern and will continue using it in the future.
