Charcoal Ink Drawing

My work shows my love of the woods. I drew the trees in my back yard against a cloudy morning background. It is my interpretation of my favorite place on the planet. This project relates to my life because it is the drawing of my favorite place. I grew up playing back there and still do to this day. Some of my best memories are of me in those woods with either friends or family just hanging out. I drew this picture using charcoal, charcoal pencils, erasers, a tiny bit of ink, rulers, two photographs, a pen, pencils, and tortillons. The work was made by finding a picture of the trees, then griding it and transferring that grid onto a separate piece of paper. After this I went box by box, transferring the photograph onto the other piece of paper. Originally the drawing was supposed to be of my cat but that proved to be too difficult due to it being very light. Once I realized the mistake I had made I scrolled through my phone and found a picture of the trees in my backyard. I think that I will continue to use this technique to create other pieces of art because I really enjoy the final product and it is really fun to make.
