The project assigned to me was to choose two contemporary photographers and take pictures that were inspired by their styles. One of the photographers, Dave Jordano likes to take pictures of buildings and people in his hometown of Detroit Michigan. I took a picture of the old boat shed behind my house and edited it in a way that I feel he would have. He tends to produce less edited-looking photos so that what I tried to do. My other photographer, Brian Ulrich, photographs consumer culture. For his inspired photo, I used the holiday season to my advantage. People are buying up a lot of candy at the moment (for Halloween) so I chose to take a picture of my family's candy bowl. Ulrich also tends to have more edited looking photos so that's what I ended up going for when I edited my photo. When editing my photo's I made the ones inspired by Dave look a little darker but I exposed them a little more. With Brian's, I tried to highlight the snickers bar in the center of the bowl by adding a vignette and brightening the image. My favorite image was the photo of the candy. I like how I made the snickers bar in the center look almost spotlighted in the center of the photo. I found that I'm really into nature photography lately. I wanna take photos of Maine's outdoors. I also wanna get better at editing my photos because I think they could be better.
