These Gel Prints, I think, reflect a cat’s emotions. They are very black and white(or green and white) which, if you have cats makes sense to you. A cat either loves you or hates you, is hungry or not, or wants to play or not. They have no inbetween. This is one way the project relates to me. I have cats which are very black and white with their emotions. Another way it relates to me is that I find that I can be very black and white with my emotions. This work was made using gelatin, art paper, fabric ink, a roller, a bent piece of metal, and my fingers. First I rolled the ink on the metal to thin it, then rolled it on the gel pad. Then I placed the leaves onto the gel pad and rubbed in the ink to put the impressions of the leaves on the paper. Then, using the same gel pad I made three more prints the same way. Then I did it twice more with two more sets of leaves. My project didn’t really evolve. It pretty much was the same thing three times over and over again. I think my next step would be to extend it into a leafy treescape which should be very interesting.
