Final Reflection:
In my opinion, my experience in Photo I was successful. I think this because I learned a lot about photography that I hadn't know before... such as techniques, styles, using photoshop, using film cameras/developing film, etc. Before I took this class photography was a hobby of mine, but I think now that I understand it better I might do it even more often. I can now use the new skills I've learned to take better photos. Not just better, but more specific... like a specific technique, if that makes sense.
The hardest thing in taking this course, for me, was probably either figuring out photoshop or the start of using film cameras. Photoshop because I didn't know a lot about it at first, so it was hard figuring some things out sometimes (unless we got a demo/example). And using film cameras was hard, mostly just because I never used them before so the developing process was a lot to get used to at first. I did get the hang of both though, or at least a basic understanding. I think now that I've got a better understanding of both, I can use this knowledge in the future.
My favorite project this year was probably the multiplicity project because I thought the photos came out really cool, and I liked the unique look of it. I also just found it fun editing the photos together in photoshop. Other than that, I liked the leading lines (film camera) project just because it was right after we learned about the film process, so I knew how to do it pretty well. I also just like the way the main photos turned out. I honestly liked all of the projects, but those 2 were just my main favorites.
My least favorite project this year was the selected color portraits. I think it's just because I had some difficulty figuring out how to do it at first, and I don't love how most of the photos turned out. I definitely think the photos could have turned out better. It wasn't the project I didn't like, but just the way I did it... If I were to do this project again, now that I have better knowledge on how to do it, I'd probably pick out better photos with more pops of color.
My understanding of photography has been impacted by the class because I now know so many different techniques (leading lines, shadows and reflections, etc.) and types of photography (digital, film, using photoshop, etc.) that I can use when/after taking pictures. Before this, I didn't know much about the different kinds of pictures you can take (techniques/styles), so now that I do I feel like my photos can be impacted positively. My appreciation of photography has been impacted by the class because now I know the hard work that can go into photography, and (a lot of times) the deep thought behind the photos. I also am able to see different techniques through pictures now. Overall, I think this class has deepened my understanding of photography for the good because now I can see things more clearly (like techniques, for example).
