Ceramics II

Final reflection:

I feel like my experience in Ceramics II was successful because with every project I got better and better with learning how to smooth, getting better with different techniques, and having more creative ideas than Ceramics I. Ceramics II differed from Ceramics I because we got a little more freedom in projects. I also got better with more practice... In Ceramics I, I don't think my ideas were very creative. And if I'm being honest, they didn't come out too great or just weren't what I wanted. But this year I think they're better and more creative. I also like how this class was different in the sense that Ceramics I had projects that were more technique based (Because every project we learned a new technique), but in Ceramics II we had the option to choose what technique we wanted -- this gave us more opportunity to have more creative ideas, and more freedom in general!

The hardest thing for me, while taking this course, was probably choosing which techniques to do. A lot of times, I didn't know whether I should do pinch or coil. I also think time was another challenge because at the start of the year, I was really slow with my process & so my elements project dried up over break because of it. But, since that project, I've learned how to do it more quickly.

My favorite project this year was either the eccentric teapot or duality. I just really like how they both came out. The duality was more of a simple design, but I think it looks really pretty still. And I like my teapot a lot; Originally I was going to do a cat teapot, but I changed my design halfway through because it wasn't working out. I'm actually glad that my original idea didn't work out because I feel like the product I got was way more creative/original... And it looks better. My least favorite project this year was definitely the elements project. I liked the project itself, but I don't like what I made very much -- it could've been better.

The way class ran this year definitely worked for me, I liked the environment a lot. I don't think I really have anything to add that could be done differently, it was a great class. For sure one of my favorite classes this year.
