Ceramics I

Final Reflection

Out of all the projects and things I made this year, I think that I'm the proudest of my historical pot. The reason that I'm most proud of my shell is because it took a while to make and some parts were a little hard. My shell is also the biggest thing I've made this year and it took effort to make. The shell isn't necessarily my favorite piece, but it was the hardest to make and that's why I'm proud of it. The shell is a coil pot that was inspired by a historical pot from China. It might not look exactly like the original pot, but I still think it looks cool.

Taking this class has changed my view on ceramics because before I didn't really think about all the methods and techniques. I thought most pottery was made with those things that spin around with the clay on them; I didn't know about the other methods at all. This year we used the pinch technique, the coil technique, and the soft slab method to make different pieces. When we started making things I was surprised at how many techniques there were to make pottery. I think that now I appreciate art/ceramics more because of knowing the work and effort that goes into making things.

I honestly don't think that I have any suggestions for this class. I think that everything is already pretty good and not much should change. I like the amount of projects we did this year and I think that should stay the same. I also liked how we did a couple of projects for each technique, that was a good amount and I think that should stay the same as well. Basically what I'm trying to say is, I think most things should just stay the same in this class.
