2D Design

Semester 1 Reflection:

This semester, in 2D Design, we learned a lot. We learned how to use photoshop & adobe illustrator, we painted, drew, used charcoal, did prompts, etc. We had a lot of projects & my favorite was probably the beautiful oops or our sustained investigations! I feel most successful in my third sustained investigation, I really like the sketches and kinda think they looked better with no color. That was our last project before midterms, and I think I feel more successful in it because I've gotten a little better since our first project on the first day. That's why my favorite is the last one.

I think something I've struggled with is not liking the final results of my art, but not knowing how to fix them. I mostly like drawing, rather than painting or digital art, but it's also kind of hard sometimes because I never know how to make them better. Like the duck stamp... I knew there was some things I should fix on it, I just didn't really know what. I think that's definitely my biggest struggle for this class. Maybe my biggest struggle for art in general.

Moving forward, my artistic goals are to try new ways in making art & trying to learn how to make it better. Right now, I mostly just like drawing & using clay to make things (ceramics), but going forward I want to try to paint more & just try to make art using different materials. I want to do more creative ideas instead of making something that comes easier to me, like flowers for example. I draw flowers a lot because I think they're pretty and, for the most part, easy to make... but I want to be good at drawing other things & you need practice for that, so I might as well start practicing now. One last artistic goal I have for the future is to practice drawing more animals so I can get better at it. I really like drawing animals, I'm just not the best at it so I want to get better.
