For this assignment, we first had to sketch a design idea that would make an even bigger design when multiplied by four and turned to each side. At first I was trying to have my design look like trees, but when I was carving the pieces out of clay it was just too complicated because they kept breaking. So I simplified my design a little and got my final product. To make sure each tile was the same shape and size, we put our original tiles into plaster molds, which we then used to make 5-6 more tiles. After I had all of my tiles done, I picked out the 4 best ones and had them bisque fired. I then picked out some glazes to use and got to work. I decided to have a blue/green theme, as I did for a lot of my projects this year (I've come to realize). The technique I used for this project was mostly slabs, but I obviously also used a plaster mold.
