Crayola marker, sharpie, and cleaning solution on gelatin

For these pieces, I used Crayola markers on a gelatin square to transfer an image onto a piece of paper. In my first, I decided to make a representation of a sunset and different colors of the sky are visible. For the second, I used a cleaning solution from a wipe to thin and mix the marker and create a cool design, then outlined some of the white space with a Sharpie. This project connects to my life because I really like sunsets, and we all know they are better than sunrises.

To create the first piece I used Crayola markers to draw a sunset out on a slab of gelatin, and printed it out onto a piece of paper by pressing it on top. For the second, scribbled randomly with different Crayola colors then painted over it with the wipe solution, this mixed up the colors and spread them out. I printed two off of this and I drew on the second one with Sharpie.

I have never used this process to create something before so using it was new and led to many discoveries. I learned different techniques and explored my materials. my project evolved pretty simply, I started by drawing designs out on the slab, for my first I drew a sunset. I then printed the design onto paper, after that, I printed it again so it appeared lighter but with the same design. Next, I printed with ink, I didn't like this as much as the marker but it showed up ok. I later used one of the ink designs to draw on and make extended, it ended up looking good as well. After the ink prints, I decided to try to use the wipes' solution to paint over the Crayola and have it hopefully mix. It worked well and I ended up making two of these before running out of time. The second one I made extended as you can see above. If I was to continue this project I would probably make some more with the wipe solution because it turned ut pretty cool looking.
