Extended Blind Contour

Blind Contour

Dangerous water

12"x9"

Thin sharpie, thick sharpie, colored pencils, on watercolor

In this I tried to make it abstract, yet comprehensible. I used different angles in my blind contour that, not purposefully, turned into a sort of shark with a person looking down at their hands. I don't think that there is any way this relates to my life, since i had to build the drawing around something that my mind didn't know existed until I looked down at my paper.

In this I used a combination of materials. First, I started with a fine-tip Sharpie, I used this to draw the actual blind contour with. Next I used a large sharpie to add definition to the lines I deemed important. After this I looked over what I had and tried to imagine what it could be, it wasn't very hard to identify the shark for me, and the hands were obvious. Once I had identified the theme, I started to color in the individual pieces of the work, the shark, hands, etc.

To create this I used blind contours at different angles to create a scene. The result of the drawings, showed barely any resemblance to the original idea. After doing blind contours of my hand, and two self portraits, I decided to do another hand. Only after this did I realize the theme. My next steps in this work might be to add another one or two blind contours to see where it takes me.
