For this project, I was assigned the prompt: "Draw a ninja fighting an angry banana." So I proceeded to draw a ninja fighting an angry banana. In the drawing the ninja is wielding a sword, and the banana is wielding its fists. This project relates to my life in some but not very many ways. One, I like bananas, particularly in smoothies accompanied by strawberries, greek yogurt, and, milk. Also ninjas are pretty cool, and it was fun drawing the cartoon-style that I used. To create this project, I used a simple combination of graphite, sharpie, and colored pencil. I decided to use a cartoon-ish style for this. I knew from the beginning that I didn't want to draw realistically. So I experimented a bit with the style in a way I don't use very often at all. To begin my project, I started off by finding some inspiration. I simply searched up 'ninja' and found a clipart that I based some of the style of the ninja off of. Then I began to figure out the pose of the ninja. I tried several things with the arms and experimented with the position of them until I found one I liked. Then drew out the ninja, with the addition of a headband and a robe which I later colored in red. After doing the ninja pout in pencil, I moved onto the banana. I knew I could be pretty flexible with the shape and size of the banana so I made sure not to overthink it too much. I made the banana quite large and round as well. I then added an angry-looking face to the banana and some arms up in a boxing position and obviously legs too. After that I decided I would go over the lines in sharpie to add to the cartoon aspect of them. For the outermost lines I drew over them in a classic sharpie the medium level of thick. Then for the interior lines I went over them in a fine-point sharpie for added detail and made them a little bit thicker since I had more control with the fine point. I did the same to the banana and next I was onto the color. The coloring went pretty quick. I just went with one simple layer of color for each of the segments. most of the ninja was black except for the headband and the robe as I said before. For the banana, it was mostly yellow as you could have guessed, and I decided to add some contrast with a darker yellow of the left side. And at that point I was done. I like how this came out for such a simple and quick task, and if I was to continue this project I could definitely add a background and some cool details. If I really wanted to I could go ahead and just make it a big landscape.
