For this project, I used photoshop to create a portrait of a toucan with flowers going around the outside. This project relates to my life because I just like toucans. I think they are pretty cool, all birds in general really. I also really like the abundance of color used in this piece. To create this piece, I used Photoshop. The process was pretty consuming but rewarding. I've been working on my skills using digital materials and creating digital art. For this, I built on those talents and learned some new strategies to help me create works. for instance the line tool which helped me create the toucan's body. To start my project, I first created the ide grid above. Which has different prompts that when combined together make a grid of uniques drawings each featuring two or more artistic elements. while working on the grid I became inspired to create a work revolving around birds for whatever reason and decided to make a relative bird theme to the grid to give me a range of choices. As you can see on the grid, the toucan is there among parrots and other birds. After my grid, I had to choose one of the boxes to turn into a large work. I chose the toucan, and shortly after, I turned it into a quick sketch in a sketchbook. From there I took a picture of the sketch and put it into photoshop where I traced it out, deleted the picture, and could start my project. I started with the toucan, of course, and I decided to make the background black so that the majority of the toucan's body was invisible, yet representational. The body went pretty smoothly, I made sure to clean up the lines when I was done so that it was flawless and then could continue to the flowers. At first, I tried to make the flowers quite large, though after checking it out, I decided to lessen their size dramatically. Then, I started to copy and paste them around. I made seven different colors of the same flower so that there was some variety in the color and the piece as a whole, and moved them around so that they weren't all uniform. once I was done placing all the flowers and erasing their stems I was done. I really like how it came out and I think I could create another piece similar to this in the future. I don't think there is anything I would add or change if I was to continue this project, though I would like to make another of a different bird perhaps.
