Tree by the Track
18 X 24
Oil Paint Stick on Watercolor Paper
In this piece I tried to focus on capturing wind in motion in the leaves, but as a result of poor planning my composition was relatively weak. I was limited by my past experience using oil paint sticks and struggled to accurately match the colors I observed.
This piece was made using oil paint sticks. I tried to focus on creating texture by using the semi-dry oil paint sticks to create crayon like marks.
As I worked, I developed layers that allowed me to communicate the texture and motion in leaves of the tree. Rather than worry about exactly replicating the forms of the tree, I just enjoyed the process, making big marks and putting a lot of color down with each stroke.
