It started in a very hot and dry place with the Cartels I have helped with and fought with, it was Mexico. It was one of the biggest yet most motivating events in my life and it was the hardest one of all the other events. This is my journey on how I became one of the best Cuban presidents in history. It all started in Mexico where I was sentenced to 15 year imprisonment. It was an excruciating experience for me and it may have been the reason why Cuba is not in a constant war of hatred. It felt longer than just 15 years but then came the day of release, this is where I started my journey for a Campaign in Cuba with my brother Raul Castro so we can stop a long horrific war from happening. It went on to be the July 26th movement with an armed expedition of 81 men. On December 2, 1956, me and our men invaded the eastern coast of Cuba from the yacht Granma. All of our men in the expedition were killed or captured except for me and my brother and nine others in which we retreated to Sierra Maestra.
The forces we’ve been handing out won a string of victories over the Batista government’s demoralized and poorly led armed forces. This force of 800 guerrillas had defeated the Cuban government’s 30,000-man professional army. From an unrecognized member of a Cartel to a revolutionary leader, I was one of the millions of people to become commander in chief of the armed forces in Cuba’s new provisional government, which had Manuel Urrutia, a moderate liberal, as its president. By the time Urrutia was forced to resign in July 1959, It was the point where I had taken effective political power into my own hands. This is where I had come to power with the support of most Cuban city dwellers on the basis of his promises to restore the 1940 constitution, create an honest administration, reinstate full civil and political liberties, and undertake moderate reforms.
