Explanation of Project
The Hispanic Heritage Month Project was conceived to help students understand how different people from around the world have shaped the world we live in today.
This project was developed to help students build research skills and apply them.
Students were to select a Hispanic person of interest, complete research accompanied by an annotated bibliography, use that research to create an 8.5"x11" display that represents their person and a written response explaining each image and the quote selected for their display, and then write a narrative from the point of view of their person that focuses on one event from the person's life. Visual displays and narratives can be viewed here by clicking on the category and the name of the person researched.
8th ELA Purpose
This year, students will learn to communicate as an active and positive part of their community. Hispanic Heritage Month allows students the opportunity to examine the successes and challenges that people of a specific culture experience, hopefully expanding each student's personal views of the world and others.
Student work is displayed in our hallways for the month of Hispanic Heritage (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15)
