It was May 27th 1999, I was at a music video shooting for my album debut and I met this guy, his name was Diddy and I really liked him. We were the couple everyone was talking about on every newspaper headline you could think of, but Diddy was actually still dating model Kim Porter at the time. We split after almost 3 years of dating because of Diddy’s fear of commitment as a contributing factor, but the reasoning of our breakup was an arrest. Diddy and I were at the top of our game in 1999 slaying red carpets with our stylish outfits and displays of affection towards each other at award shows. We spoke publicly about our relationship in many interviews, but our world was turned upside down the night we attended a party in a NYC nightclub.

We attended a club at a Times-Square Hot Spot. We arrived around midnight while the party was still in blast and we had a fun time, we enjoyed ourselves with Diddy and his entourage arriving separately from me. We weren't searched by guards, we just went to the VIP away from the other 600 attendees. Witnesses say they saw Diddy arguing with a patron near a bar and things got rowdy. He was alleged to be screaming and yelling about being rich, but when security saw him throwing money they stepped in and tried to break the argument up, later shots rang out and Diddy was escorted out and leaving three people injured. People thought he and I had something to do with it because of the argument.

Diddy got in earlier before the shots were fired, one woman was shot in the face while two others suffered shots to the shoulder, eyewitnesses swore that Diddy and his crew were responsible for the people shot. After fleeing the scene, Diddy and I were arrested as we were stopped by Manhattan police.When pulled over they found a nine millimeter handgun hidden under the seat close to my feet, we were arrested for illegal possession of a weapon. I had been sobbing the whole time even after I was released, I was terrified of my career being ruined from the arrest I had nothing to do with. I blamed Diddy for it but also wanted to comfort him because he had been there for me all the time. He said I was his biggest supporter during this time.

Charges were dropped against me in an hour, Diddy remained in prison for a couple of days before being released on bail. Diddy was charged and eventually cleared from all charges in 2001. We called it quits in 2001, he was very unfaithful. The arrest was the result of us breaking up, he would say he's going to the club and never come back but I knew something was off. He was devious and lying behind my back. He was very unloyal and I never felt like I could trust him.
