Sitting in the chair, I see that the outside of St. Peter’s Square is packed with energetic people. I feel as if I can sense the energy of people praying for me. Seeing everybody recording me and some people waving flags of their countries, I am very excited as Cardinal Sodano places the palian that has been created with lamb and sheep wool, above my shoulders and as he walks back down the stairs to retrieve the Fisherman’s Ring, the holy individual beside me places the mitre on my head. I hear the people clapping for me and the choir singing in harmony. I see Cardinal Sodano in his holy garments and his red zucchetto as he walks up the stairs again to present me with the Fisherman’s Ring. The ring that has been made for me to use as authentication for documents, it shows St. Peter holding keys to heaven and the netherworld. The ring that will be destroyed after I depart this life. Sodano places the ring on my finger and after shaking his hand, glaring down at the ring, feeling the weight of the ring, feeling like I am carrying the weight of the Church, all of the responsibilities I will retain.
Inside St. Peter's Square the foreign leaders are gathered around me, in the balcony, I see the choir and musicians wearing tuxedos. Hearing the sound of silver trumpets as I walk up to Saint Peter’s tomb with my papal ferula alongside the patriarchs and archbishops of the Eastern Catholic Church. Stopping at the stairwell that leads to Saint Peter’s tomb to meet the world leaders. I shake their hands and talk to them and their company leader by leader until meeting the last one. Before walking down the steps, the archbishops take my mitre and ferula to hold. As I walk down the steps, an archbishop assists me. On the floor where Saint Peter’s tomb is being kept, there are holy people waiting for me. I kneel down on the cushion and pray to Saint Peter while lowering my head. After praying I get up and the archbishop assists me back up the stairs, the other archbishops place the mitre on my head and hand me my ferula. I get up the stairs back into St. Peter’s Square and start walking to the exit of the building through a column of archbishops. Traipsing between the two columns of archbishops wearing their ivory colored garments.
I enter the outside of the building and truly see how packed St. Peter’s Square is, and how beautiful the statues are, as well as the obelisk. My mitre and ferula are taken to be placed somewhere else and I am assisted into the back of the Popemobile where there is an area for me to stand on. Two old white men drive me through the giant square in the white mobile as I stand in the back, waving at everybody in the crowd. The mobile moves slowly and is surrounded by my escorters, three of them are carrying cameras to record this historic day. I am very delighted to see everybody cheering, waving various flags, showing posters, and recording me. The mobile stops and a crying baby is being held in front of me, kissing the baby on his nose and placing my hand on his cheek as he is given back to his overjoyed parents and the mobile moves along. “ Thank you Jesus!”, I say in my head, very ecstatic.
The mobile stops once again and I step off of the vehicle as some of the men lead me to a part on the fence. On the other side of the fence there is a disabled man who is carried by what looks like their happy parents, behind them are many people clapping and cheering. Placing my hand on the man’s arm, kissing him and the forehead, he looks at me and smiles very happily, I smile back at him and rub his arm. The escorters take me back into the Popemobile and there is another man in black seated next to where I am standing to ensure my safety. The mobile continues its path through St. Peter’s Square as I wave into the crowd. From the bell tower three bells are ringing as the mobile finishes its journey through St. Peter’s Square.
