Dear Families of St. Michael School,

Today, September 11, we pause to remember and honor the lives lost and the many acts of courage and selflessness that emerged from the events of September 11, 2001. As a Catholic school community, we are called to remember with reverence, to honor those who sacrificed so much, and to give thanks for the freedoms and blessings we share. May this day also remind us of our responsibility to be people of peace, compassion, service, and hope, and to pray for our nation and our world.

Yesterday we were honored to host the Blue Mass, where we welcomed and recognized first responders from throughout Louisville. We are deeply thankful for the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of our first responders and for the many ways they serve and protect our community each day. We are also grateful to our first responder agencies for providing police and fire vehicles for our students to explore and learn about. These experiences gave our students a wonderful opportunity to meet those who serve our community and to better understand the important work they do.  Many thanks to Archbishop Fabre for celebrating the Blue Mass with our St. Michael community. As we reflect on the 25th anniversary of September 11, may we each consider how we can be peacemakers in our families, in our communities, and in our world. May God bless all those who serve others with courage and generosity, and may He continue to guide us in building a more peaceful world.

We are excited to welcome the St. Michael community to our school cafeteria this Sunday after the 11:00 Mass as part of our Jubilee Celebration! We will be offering free ice cream, and our student ambassadors will be here to answer questions about our school and offer tours. We recognize that many parishioners who generously support St. Michael School through their prayers and donations may not have been in our school in many years, or may have never had the opportunity to visit. We are excited to share the amazing things happening at St. Michael School with our parish community and, most importantly, to thank everyone for their continued support of our students, teachers, and school.  We hope to see you there.
