Junior High Mixer
grades 6-8!
I have been married to Glenn, a very silly, hilarious man for 16 years. We have two children, Olivia -- 6th grade, and Gracie -- 1st grade. We also have a sweet fur baby named Sally. Fun Fact: A few St. Michael families have Sally's siblings!
I have a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and a Masters in Early Childhood Education. This is my 8th year at St. Michael (though not consecutive) and my 11th year as a teacher. I have taught 1st grade, 5th grade, kindergarten, and now 3rd. I say every time I switch grades that it's my favorite, but 3rd is definitely neck and neck with my other favorite grade...kindergarten!
I took a little break from teaching to work on my small business, BrownCow Creatives. I own and operate a 400lb industrial-grade laser and I can engrave and cut all sorts of things! I love making signage, classroom and home decor, jewelry, and engraved goodies all of sorts. It's one of my favorite hobbies, but being at St. Michael is where I belong!
I am so happy to be back with the absolute BEST community a teacher (and a mom) could ever ask for!
My name is Ali Venezia, and I teach third grade. This is my first year at St. Michael as a teacher, but I am a long time member of the community and graduated from the school 10 years ago! I went to Sacred Heart Academy and after graduating moved out to Lexington to attend the University of Kentucky GO CATS! After I graduated I taught first grade in Lexington. But.. I missed home, so I moved back to Louisville.
A Little about my family: I am the youngest of three who all attended St Michael as well. My parents are long time members of the St. Michael Parish. Some people know my dad as the "donut guy," because he volunteers to make the coffee and get the donuts for after Sunday's Mass :)
My older sister, Kate, is currently 7 months pregnant with a baby boy, so my recent days have been filled with planning baby showers, picking out tiny socks, and practicing being the "cool aunt."
Other than spending time with family, I enjoy going to new restaurants with old friends, and playing with my 6 month old mini dachshund, Buddy!
I am so excited to be back at St. Michael this year, because it is such an awesome community!
I just got married this summer to my husband, Alex. We have 2 fur babies, Luna & Ava who are FULL of energy! I graduated from Assumption High School and then went to attend the University of Louisville. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Masters in Elementary Education. This is my 3rd year teaching and I have taught 3rd grade all three years.
I have a half sister and 2 younger brothers. I also have 2 step brothers and a step sister! We have a big family!
In my free time, I enjoy going out to eat with friends, playing volleyball and spending time with my family. I am so glad I am now apart of the St. Michael community and I look forward to coming to school every day!

Thanksgiving Break STEM with Mrs. Johnson & Mrs. Priel
Be sure to register early to reserve a spot for your child in grades K-2!
Please take a look at our updated school handbook. The new uniform & tardy policies are listed and quite a bit of the technology protocols have been updated as well.
We ask that parents and students are mindful of several items:
No step counters or digital watches may be worn (including Apple Watches, Fitbit, Garmin, etc.)
Treats may not be sent in for birthdays--they will be kept in the office and sent back home with the student at the end of the day. This is not a new policy but we do need to remind everyone of this; thank you for your support.
Parents/guardians may not drop off forgotten Chromebooks or iPads for students. They will be kept in the office and given to the student at the end of the day.
Kentucky law KRS 159.50 defines a truant as any child who has been absent or tardy for more than three days without a valid excuse. All truants shall be reported by the principal to the Director of Pupil Personnel of the appropriate public school district. The principal will notify the Superintendent at the Office of Catholic Schools.
ABSENCE (Archdiocese of Louisville Policy Handbook):
Students may need to be away from school for illnesses or family situations that arise. These are to be documented as absences. A written excuse stating the reason for absence and signed by the parent or guardian shall be required for all absences. All written excuses shall be kept on file for one school year. Parents/guardians will be encouraged to make appointments for private medical or dental services outside of school time. Local school personnel are encouraged to make arrangements with the parents for continued education for students who are absent for an extended period of time.
Parents will be notified if their student is absent three or more times without a valid excuse.

Interested in the OG approach? As part of Discover Catholic Schools week, Holy Trinity Clifton Campus is sharing infomration about the Orton-Gillingham approach. All of our kindergarten and first grade teachers here at St. Michael, as well as two of our learning coordinators, are fully OG trained. Our second grade team will be trained in full this year, too!
Go learn about this wonderful, research-based reading approach and see how the OG program is delivered.
First time SET must be taken in person. A schedule may be found here--> Training Schedule – Archdiocese of Louisville (archlou.org)
Our Kindergarten got with their 8th grade Buddies last Friday and made "Thankful Turkeys!" They talked about what they were thankful for going into the Thanksgiving break. WE are thankful for the friendships these buddies create during their first and final years at St. Michael! ♥️
