Hi families!
We had SUCH a great first week around here at school! The students were bright eyed the first two days but you could tell the back-to-school routine finally caught up with them around Wednesday morning. The first week is hard to adjust to for us all but we certainly made it!
Don't forget that Student Accountability Forms are due back by 8/23/24. If your child is a bus rider, a form was emailed yesterday that also needs to be returned ASAP to Mrs. Jamie Stepp.
While we adjusted to the first week, we did not count students tardy. Beginning Monday, we will enforce the tardy policy. Students who are not in their homerooms by 7:45 am will be counted tardy, so please make sure your children are getting to school on time. Drop off begins at 7:15 am for all students.
We are looking for some parent vounteers to help run Governor's Cup and Quick Recall this year, so please email Mrs. Bowman and Mrs. Storner if you're interested. Without parents and sponsors, we can't have teams!
Thank you for your patience with our afternoon dismissal process and carpool. Next week, we will be adding kindergarten AND preschool to our dismissal, so please be aware that we are still getting some families used to the process.
Finally, our cafeteria is being used for lunches BUT we still are unable to service students with school lunch at this time while some repairs are being made. For the time being, please remember that your students will need to bring a lunch from home until further notice!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. Bowman
Be sure to get your orders in online! Students should be bringing home a copy of the ordering information.
You may have heard that our Thursday "Fitness Days" are a thing of the past. We have altered our school schedule so that on Mass days (which were also Fitness Days), our special area teachers have stepped up to cover recess for those days. Each grade level will have their 30 minute special area block that day, but they will have a 30 minute recess covered by the special area teachers at that time. This means that additional recess will not take place that day, thereby providing additional instructional time for all grade levels. Not only does this prevent additional time out of the classroom for our students, it also provides a way for our students to have their recess without multiple grade levels in the same area at the same time, thereby making their time safer for all and providing the special area teachers fewer students to supervise at once. We are thankful that our special area teachers were able to help us solve the issue of Thursdays being a day where recess and Fitness were able to be combined and still give our students the opportunity to get outside for fresh air and exercise!
While we have no more field trips this year, we wanted to let all families know of the policy regarding signing out students attending trips. While some trips (out of county) have come with the stipulation that parents could sign out their students due to the distance, this is not our overall school policy. We have had some confusion on a few trips this year and, in preparation for the coming year, want to let all families know that no students may be signed out from a field trip and leave with a parent. All students must return to school on the bus and be picked up from St. Michael, regardless of the trip distance, type, or venue. If you are chaperoning a field trip for your child's class or grade level, your child must still ride the bus/transportation back to the school. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
First time SET must be taken in person. A schedule may be found here--> Training Schedule – Archdiocese of Louisville (archlou.org)
