Welcome Back, St. Michael School Families!

Wow! What a wonderful first week! We are so thankful to have our students back in the building. Our first week has been full of courage, the joy of seeing old friends again, and the gift of new opportunities. (Also, some celebrity Knight sightings on WLKY!) There has been so much laughter, excitement, kindness, and energy throughout our school. We also want to extend a very special welcome to our new families at St. Michael School! We are better because you are here. Thank you for joining our family. We are grateful that you have entrusted your children to us, and we look forward to all that we will experience and accomplish together this year.

We especially enjoyed celebrating our first school Mass together with Father Peter yesterday. The Gospel reminded us of the beautiful and sometimes challenging call to forgive one another - not just once, but again and again. When Peter asked Jesus how often he should forgive, Jesus responded with a number that points us toward generosity and persistence in forgiveness. What a wonderful message for the beginning of a new school year! New beginnings give us opportunities to be patient with one another, to give one another grace, and to remember that every day is a chance to begin again. At St. Michael School, we want our students to know that they are loved, that they are capable of growing, and that we are always willing to help one another become the people God is calling us to be.

As a reminder, families are always welcome to join us for school Mass on Thursdays at 8:15 a.m. Our Mass day may occasionally shift because of Holy Days of Obligation, special liturgies, or unique school events, so please watch our school communications for any changes. All are welcome. We would be blessed to have you gather with us as we pray for our students, our families, and our school community.

A Few Carline Reminders

As we settle back into our procedures and routines, thank you for helping us keep arrival and dismissal safe and smooth.

Please do not drop students off or allow them to leave your vehicle before 7:15 a.m. There is no supervision prior to 7:15, and it is important that students are never unattended on campus.
Please discuss your child's dismissal plan before school each day. Whether your child is riding the bus, joining a carpool, walking, or being picked up by a family member, please make sure everyone knows the plan.
We understand that family plans sometimes change during the school day. When they do, we greatly appreciate you communicating those changes to the office and your child's classroom teacher. We will then make sure the information is communicated to your student.
We are especially thankful for the wonderful grandparents and other family members who help with afternoon pickup! Please share your carpool maps with everyone who may be involved in your family's carpool so that we can make sure your students safely and confidently find the correct family member at dismissal.
Please do not pick up your student between 2:15 and 2:45 (or the last 30 minutes of any school day). This time is especially busy as we coordinate bus arrival, carline, and other dismissal logistics. If your student needs to be dismissed early, please plan to pick them up before 2:15 pm. Thank you!

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and partnership as we work together to keep our children safe and keep things running smoothly.

I have to close this newsletter by saying it one more time: WOW!!!

We truly have wonderful students at St. Michael School and I feel blessed to spend my days with them. Thank you for partnering with St. Michael School. Thank you for trusting us with your children. Thank you for the countless ways you support our teachers, our staff, and one another.

We have started the next chapter - and it is beautiful!

Chick-fil-A Meal: $7.00 (on certain pre-schedule Fridays)
Includes a sandwich or nuggets, vegetables, fruit, and a drink.
Little Caesars Meal: $6.50 (on certain pre-schedule Fridays)
Includes pizza, vegetables, fruit, and a drink.

À La Carte Items

Snacks: (Chips, Cookies, Ice Cream): $1.50 each
Small snack: $1.00

Parents, please remember to regularly check your student's lunch account balance in FACTS to ensure funds are available.

Important Reminder
In accordance with Archdiocesan policy, students may not bring soft drinks or energy drinks to school.

Lunch Volunteers Needed
If you're interested in volunteering in the cafeteria, please contact Mrs. Mendoza at mmendoza@stmichaellouisville.org. All school volunteers must have current Safe Environment Training and a cleared background check before volunteering.
