Auctioned Registration Numbers

Auctioned Registration Numbers

The Colorado Disability Funding Committee (successor to the License Plate Auction Group -- LPAG) has the statutory authority to reserve for auction, any configuration, not currently registered or that has not been expired more than 13 months. This includes abandoned personalized configurations, serialized configurations, and configurations the state does not permit (such as single letter or number configurations). Configurations which have been deemed offensive or objectionable by the Department are excluded.

The Committee holds periodic live auctions and online auctions of these reserved configurations to raise funds for the Colorado Disability Funding Committee to provide assistance for disabled citizens in their applications for Social Security Disability Income.

The group may request from the Department, twice a year, a list of configurations which have been expired more than 13 months. Once reviewed they may request to have configurations they have identified as having value to be reserved for auction. Once reserved, these configurations are removed from circulation and are no longer available to citizens to register their vehicles, without having won them at auction.

Citizens should be aware, auctioned plates MAY be subject to time limits and/or additional fees to allow them to keep the configuration.
