Dear Year 7 student,
I am in year 9 and having some issues regarding my organization towards my quarrels in school. Not only this but, I've been insecure about two things: my going to high school and my grades that from now on will count each time more towards my future.
Everything started during the pandemic when I, sincerely, just paid attention when I really needed to, otherwise I would be playing games. This fact created a vicious cycle that came until 8th grade when I got a D in Projeto Pessoal, which generated procrastination when I got home. Making problems like not delivering activities or delivering them very late.
With this said I got really insecure, making me think if this organization and procrastination will go to High school, affecting my grades and my professional development.
Could you help me anyway?
Year 9 student
Dear Y9 student,
I saw your request and I could say that's a very common problem, especially in older grades, so you are having problems regarding organization and high school grades. It brings you a lot of worry and agony of going well in things, but all just get worse and worse. One advice I can give you is try to use a planner, might work as well using post-it and putting them on places that are easy to see every day.
I really think your problem is mostly caused by the thought that, If you got a bad grade, it's gonna reflect your futureYou got a D in Projeto Pessoal, which generated procrastination when you got home! Making problems like not submitting activities or submitting them very late. You get really insecure, and that makes you think if this organization and procrastination goes to High school, it will affect your grades and professional development. If you get it wrong, you will always get it wrong, You are getting led by insecurity! My advice will be a base for the rest of the problem. My suggestion is to take care first of the insecurity with a psychologist and talk to your family about it, then the problems that are left you should use my organization's advice and use a planner not just for school work but for commitment, thoughts and personal life, That can help you a lot at balancing your mind in a helpful way. If you had organized thoughts, you would take things easier.
If you have no reason to be interested, you will not pay attention. During the pandemic you just paid attention when really needed, otherwise you would be playing games. This fact created a vicious cycle that came until 8th grade. If I play games, the class will finish sooner. Our brain is moved by challenges and you won't do something without a challenge. I would strongly suggest you try to challenge yourself by doing some work then playing, and when you get used to it, try to do all the work of the day and just play when you finish all that will make your work easier. Would probably work for you and a friend trying to do this one challenging each other, that can help both of you! You would work harder if you knew you're not alone.
Don’t forget to try to use a planner or post-it and put them in places easy to see every day. My advice should work because like I said our brain is moved by challenges and you won't do something without a challenge. One idea is to if it doesn’t work is you can always try to take care of your insecurity with a psychologist and talk to your family about it. I really hope that helps you. I wish you luck for these changes and feel better about all.
Sincerely,
