Dear Year 7 student,
I am in year 9 and having some issues regarding my organisation towards my quarrels in school. Not only this but, I've been insecure about two things: my going to high school and my grades that from now on will count each time more towards my future.
Everything started during the pandemic when I, sincerely, just paid attention when I really needed to, otherwise I would be playing games. This fact created a vicious cycle that came until 8th grade when I got a D in Projeto Pessoal, which generated procrastination when I got home. Making problems like not delivering activities or delivering them very late.
With this said I got really insecure, making me think if this organisation and procrastination will go to High school, affecting my grades and my professional development.
Could you help me anyway?
Year 9 student
Dear Y9 student,
I read your problems, don’t worry, I will help you to solve them. I saw you are having difficulties of being organised for studying and spending too much time on your phone. Have you tried to put an alarm on your phone, don’t do things last minute and create a schedule or timetable?
You said that you got addicted to the internet, this was probably caused because you were playing games while you were on online lessons. Here is my advice to you. I would suggest you to put an alarm on your phone. If you put an alarm on your phone, you know when to stop using it. If you only stay on your phone, you will not be able to finish or even start school work. If you followed my advice, you would be less addicted to your cell phone
Make sure you don't do stuff last minute, you will have problems finishing the activities to submit them on the next day. If you don’t submit school work, you receive low grades, like you received a D on Projeto Pessoal. So don’t do your work last minute, because it will affect your grades. If you get low grades, your parents will be mad at you. When you are back home after school, do your homework and other things you have to do, so you don’t do it later. If you followed my advice, you would not receive a D in Projeto Pessoal.
You are probably having difficulties with organisation, because you are letting it to be organised last minute. If you only stay on your phone, you will forget to be organised. If you don’t know how to organise yourself, you have difficulties organising. If you are having difficulties with organisation, my main recommendation is to create a timetable or schedule. When you arrive home after school you must check your schedule and see the time to study. If you checked the timetable you did, you would study more.
As I already mentioned before, putting an alarm on your phone, not doing things at the last minute and creating a schedule or timetable are the things that I would suggest the most. In my experience it works really well. Those are really good tips. If none of these things work, you can try having an organisation coach to help you with your organisation, so you don’t get insecure about high school. I really hope it works.
Sincerely,
