This month in Friendzy, our theme is "Stress Less, Breathe Easy," with a focus on the virtue of "Gratitude." This unit provides an excellent opportunity to discuss coping skills that help students learn healthy ways to manage stress. Developing these skills is crucial for emotional well-being and resilience. According to data from the CDC for 2021-2022, 1 in 10 children aged 3-17 has been diagnosed with anxiety, which translates to millions of children in the United States alone. The Child Mind Institute indicates that teaching coping strategies can lead to a 25% reduction in anxiety symptoms among children. Research suggests that children who acquire coping skills early are better equipped to manage stress and experience fewer long-term mental health challenges. With a “toolbox” of strategies—such as deep breathing, drawing, or talking to someone they trust—kids feel more prepared to navigate life’s ups and downs.
Your support at home is key! By practicing coping skills together, children can explore what works best for them in a safe space. Over time, these skills become second nature, helping them navigate challenges calmly and confidently. Try introducing a new coping skill each day, and have your child rate how much they liked it, creating a personalized list of their favorites.

In November, our Friendzy program will focus on the powerful virtue of Gratitude with the theme, “Stress Less, Breathe Easy.” This month, students will learn how practicing gratitude can positively impact their daily lives and relationships, even during busy or challenging times. Through engaging discussions, activities, and reflections, we will encourage students to appreciate the good around them and develop healthy ways to manage stress. Join us in modeling gratitude and mindfulness at home as we work together to help our students “stress less” and “breathe easy” in their journey toward personal and spiritual growth.
Congratulations to our Vikings who received the October Virtue Award for EMPATHY- click here to view names.

We will not have a school Mass on Thursday, November 14th, since there will be Mass on Monday, November 11th, for Veterans Day and Friday, November 15th, for St. Albert's Feast Day.
Friday, November 15th is the Feast Day of St. Albert the Great. Students will be attending Mass on this day, therefore, we will not have a spirit wear day. Students should wear their school uniforms.
This year, during Discover Catholic Schools Week: Nov. 17-23 we will be administering a Family Engagement survey to parents/guardians and students (grades 3-8). We are committed to continuous school improvement and rely on the feedback of our school community to ensure this commitment leads to the further growth of our program. Next week, you will receive a link to the survey through which you will be asked to provide feedback on our program effectiveness. We thank you in advance for your full participation. *This is in addition to the School Board Climate Survey.
Attention parents! We need your help! It has been more than 5 years since our last survey and a lot has changed, which is why it is so important to get your feedback. Your Administration and School Board want to know what YOU think about both your child's school experience and YOUR satisfaction level of St. Albert the Great School. Please find below a link to the St. Albert School Climate Survey, which you can easily access and finish in about 15 minutes.
Completing this survey will help our Administration and School Board better understand where we excel and where we need improvements in our school. Your participation is important so please take a few minutes to tell us what you think. Please fill out one survey per household.
All your responses are anonymous. If you would like to be entered to win the $100 Visa gift card, please send an email with the subject "I completed the school survey" to schoolboard-chair@stalbert.org. Include your name, which will be entered into the raffle. The winner will be randomly selected after Thanksgiving break. Please submit your responses by November 15. The survey link will close after that date.
We invite you to join us on Monday, November 11th, at 9:25 a.m. for a special Veterans Day Mass at Saint Albert the Great Parish. Let us come together as a community to honor and celebrate our nation’s veterans, who have courageously served and protected our freedom.
Please feel free to bring along family members, neighbors, and friends for this beautiful tribute. Together, let us express our gratitude for their sacrifices and lift our prayers for those who serve.
*Please note there will NOT be an All School Mass on Thursday, November 14th.
Our Parish Social Concerns Committee, along with our school, is excited to kick off our annual Thanksgiving Basket Collection. Each grade has been assigned a particular food item to gather. The donations will be assembled into full Thanksgiving Meal Baskets, which will be distributed by Eastern Area Community Ministries to families in need. We invite parents and children to shop together, enabling students to choose their contributions and engage in this important act of kindness. Generous donations are greatly appreciated, and students are encouraged to bring in multiple items. Collections run November 4-14. Click here to view grade-level items.
The 8th grade will host a Bake Sale on Wednesday, November 13th, to raise funds to donate to their Honor Flight service project.
Students from each grade will have an opportunity to visit the Bake Sale and purchase yummy treats donated by the 8th-grade families. Classes will have a designated time to visit the bake sale.
Treats will be $1 - this is a cash-only event.
Please send money with your student on Wednesday 11/13 if they would like to get a treat from the bake sale.
