Dear Saint Albert Families,
Lent Week #2
I hope your Lent is going well. I want to remind you of an important event coming up: Next Monday, March 17th, our accreditation team will be visiting Saint Albert the Great. We are excited for them to witness all the incredible things happening in our school—academic rigor, faith formation, social and emotional learning, and so much more. We take great pride in our school community, and I have no doubt that our students and teachers will shine during this visit.
This week, I want to focus on something that has been on my heart—something I struggled with as a teacher and now, as an administrator, see even more clearly. It is the power of words and actions between students in the classroom, hallways, and especially on the playground. Too often, unkindness creeps into these spaces, whether through exclusion, teasing, or harsh words.
As we journey through this season of Lent, let us all—parents, as the primary educators, and teachers, who guide students daily—commit to modeling kindness in all we do. The word kindness has become a buzzword, but I challenge us all to make it more than just a concept. Let’s show it at the dinner table, at work, while coaching, in Scouts, in Quick Recall, and in every interaction with others. Let our children witness us standing up for those who are overlooked.
I encourage you to talk with your children about small but meaningful ways they can be Christ-like in their words and actions.
Invite a child who is often left out to join a group.
Choose a partner in class or on the playground who is usually the last one picked.
Offer a simple smile or kind word to a classmate who seems lonely.
Pray for those who feel excluded or unseen, especially within our own school.
Let’s take action and truly live out our Catholic faith. Let’s replace the “buzz” of kindness with authentic acts of love and inclusion.
Do it for Lent. Do it to be kind. Do it because it is who we are called to be.
In Christ love,
Deanna O'Keefe

As we enter the month of March, we are excited to continue our Friendzy journey with the theme “Sorted Out”, focusing on the virtue of Respect. This month, our students will explore the importance of treating others with kindness, listening with an open heart, and honoring the guidance of parents, teachers, coaches, and friends.
Through engaging lessons and discussions, students will learn how respect strengthens relationships, builds trust, and reflects the love of Christ in our daily lives. By practicing respect, we recognize the dignity of every person and create a more caring and Christ-centered school community.
We invite you to join us in fostering this virtue at home by praying with your children.
Family Prayer for Respect:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the people in our lives who teach, guide, and support us. Help us to show them respect through our words and actions. Give us hearts that listen, hands that serve, and voices that speak with kindness. May we always honor others as Your beloved children. Amen.
We look forward to a wonderful month of learning and growing together in respect!
Please refer to the Parent/Student handbook for the dress down day policies. This benefits the 8th grade class activities.
Sycamore has changed the appearance of the login page for our school. A screenshot of the new login page is found here. The change is in appearance only; your login information remains the same.
Mark your calendar for the Annual Spring Showcase on Tuesday, April 15th from 6-7:30! Student artwork from the year will be displayed in the halls. Student work will be in the classrooms. The 6th Grade Drumming and Xylophone Exhibition with a Handbell preshow will be in the gym at 6:15 pm. The Please and Thank You Airstream will sell treats and drinks!
Due to publication costs, we have made the tough decision for families to purchase their own yearbook(s). You may have received an email from Inter-State asking if you would like to purchase a yearbook for the 2024-2025 school year. If you would like a St. Albert yearbook for this school year, you will need to place your order through Inter-State. You will have a choice between a hardcover ($26.00) or a softcover ($21.00). You will also have the choice of purchasing a yearbook for each child, or one for your family.
You have until March 14th to place your order. Yearbooks will be delivered in May. Click here to order.
*Eighth graders do NOT need to place an order as the school will provide a yearbook for each eighth-grade student.
The 6th-grade class is working with Neighborhood Forest to provide free trees to each of our students. We are excited to help our school celebrate Earth Day 2025 by planting trees throughout our community. Parents will follow the link to place an order for a free tree for your child/children. The trees will be delivered to school and the 6th grade will send them home with your child before Earth Day. Neighborhood Forest has all the answers to your questions including what type of tree will be sent and how best to plant your tree. The deadline to order your tree is March 15, 2025- THIS SATURDAY.
As we journey through Lent, we invite all of our Saint Albert families to participate in our school-wide service project, CRS Rice Bowl, led by our 7th-grade students. This initiative encourages prayer, fasting, and almsgiving while supporting those in need around the world. Each student has been given a Rice Bowl to take home. Please encourage your child to fill it with donations throughout Lent, and return it to school on Holy Thursday. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and live out the spirit of Lent through generosity and service. Thank you for joining us in this important mission!
Hunger Relief in the United States
Your donation to CRS Rice Bowl helps provide lifesaving support to more than 200 million people in more than 120 countries. But did you know your support also helps your local diocese?
Twenty-five percent of every donation stays in your community to fight hunger and poverty, while 75% supports Catholic Relief Services programming around the world.
Jesus, Bread of Life,
As we encounter you in the Eucharist this Lent,
nourish us with your love,
unite us in communion with our sisters and brothers,
showing us how we are connected.
Transform our hearts, that we may be moved to
share bread for life with our global family
and work for a world where all can thrive.
On March 17th, the PTO Student Appreciation Committee will be spreading a little luck and a lot of love with St. Patrick’s Blessings & Treats! Each student will receive a special St. Patrick’s themed treat bag delivered to their classroom, filled with Skittles, a mini-cross, and a St. Patrick’s Day Sticker. We will share a note with each teacher with the Holy Trinity so that as the treat bags are passed out students can reflect on the Holy Trinity. It's a meaningful way to celebrate with a reminder to students of the importance of their faith. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

PRAYER TO SAY AT HOME
Lord, we ask that you watch over Pope Francis and grant him the courage, strength and healing he needs. Grant wisdom, compassion, and empathy to those caring for him. Grant that we may have faith in your healing heart and unite us in prayer for all who are experiencing pain or illness. In Jesus’ name we pray.
