A Message from Administration

Happy Halloween!  I hope everyone has a fun and safe evening!  We are looking forward to our preschool and kindergarten students “trick or treating” with their costumes today.

At my last principal’s meeting, part of our meeting was dedicated to looking at MAP scores.  Although the Archdiocese does not post or share other schools’ individual scores, they do share the Archdiocesan averages.  Every grade level at St. Albert scored above the Archdiocesan average in both math and reading.  Excellent!  As a whole, the average district achievement in reading was 69, and St. Albert’s achievement was 77.  The average district achievement in math was 68, and St. Albert’s achievement was 77.

I am so proud of St. Albert the Great School!  We are a Blue Ribbon School because we have dedicated teachers that set a high standard, and love their students.  We have parents, guardians and a parish community that support our school.  We have students that work hard and cheer on one another.  We make a great team!

We have three weeks left in our first trimester.  Let’s finish strong!  Go Vikings!

November: The Virtue of Gratitude

In November, our Friendzy program will focus on the powerful virtue of Gratitude with the theme, “Stress Less, Breathe Easy.” This month, students will learn how practicing gratitude can positively impact their daily lives and relationships, even during busy or challenging times. Through engaging discussions, activities, and reflections, we will encourage students to appreciate the good around them and develop healthy ways to manage stress. Join us in modeling gratitude and mindfulness at home as we work together to help our students “stress less” and “breathe easy” in their journey toward personal and spiritual growth.

Congratulations to our Vikings who received the October Virtue Award for EMPATHY- click here to view names.

St. Albert School Climate Survey

Attention parents! We need your help! It has been more than 5 years since our last survey and a lot has changed, which is why it is so important to get your feedback. Your Administration and School Board want to know what YOU think about both your child's school experience and YOUR satisfaction level of St. Albert the Great School. Please find below a link to the St. Albert School Climate Survey, which you can easily access and finish in about 15 minutes.

Completing this survey will help our Administration and School Board better understand where we excel and where we need improvements in our school. Your participation is important so please take a few minutes to tell us what you think. Please fill out one survey per household.

All your responses are anonymous. If you would like to be entered to win the $100 Visa gift card, please send an email with the subject "I completed the school survey" to schoolboard-chair@stalbert.org. Include your name, which will be entered into the raffle. The winner will be randomly selected after Thanksgiving break. Please submit your responses by November 15. The survey link will close after that date.

Harvest HOCO Adult Mixer Event CANCELED

Due to the lack of ticket sales for the Harvest HOCO Adult Mixer Saturday, November 2nd the event has been cancelled.  This was not an easy decision, the committee weighed all options on how to proceed but at end of the day it was decided it was in the best interest of resources, time, and talent to cancel.  We are so sorry for any inconvenience and want to send a HUGE thank you everyone who supported the event by purchasing a ticket, donating to the raffle, or signing up as a volunteer.  We appreciate everyone who took the time to support the event.

Please see additional information below regarding ticket refunds and a postponed raffle.

If you purchased a ticket and would like to receive a refund, please email your name, address, and phone number to Sarah Barker at sarah@stengelhill.com.  You must reach out and confirm your refund by 11/15/2024.  If you do not contact us, we will gladly accept your ticket purchase as a donation for the 8th Grade Excellence Education Expedition trip to DC in April.

If you donated a raffle item(s) THANK YOU.  We are working on an option to hold a raffle at a different day/time.  If you have an item that we have not yet collected, please contact Sarah Barker at sarah@stengelhill.com and will schedule a time to pick it up.

Thank you for your support.

Wait Until 8th Pledge

A group of St. Albert parents have signed the Wait Until 8th pledge and you are invited to join if you feel it is the right choice for your family.  The Wait Until 8th pledge empowers parents to rally together to delay giving children a smartphone until at least the end of 8th grade.  By banding together, this will decrease the pressure felt by kids and parents alike over the kids having a smartphone. There are so many reasons to wait.

Many parents say “yes” to the smartphone early because so many other families have said “yes.” What if we said "not yet” together though? What difference would it make if our kids had a few more years smartphone free?

Please note that this pledge is for smartphones only. If you would like your child to have a basic phone that just calls and texts, you still can sign the pledge!

Go to the link to sign the pledge or learn more of what the pledge is and is not.

Grades 5-8 Typing Program

Learn to Type: You can learn to type for free at TypingClub.com. Typing Club's starter course, Typing Jungle, is a great starting point for 5th - 12th graders.  It contains 685 lessons designed to teach the skill of "touch typing" (typing without looking at the keyboard).

Each lesson is just 1 or 2 minutes long and the course generally follows this pattern:

- A short video introducing the concept

- A short lesson working on one or two letters using the same finger (on different hands)

- A short lesson working with more complicated letter patterns and words.

- A short game designed to test your skills.

Sign up for free by following the steps here.

Report Cards

Trimester 1 report cards will be published to Sycamore on Friday, November 15, 2024 at approximately 3 pm.  Report cards can only be viewed on the Sycamore website: not the phone or iPad app.  You can read instructions about how to access the report cards at the Parent/Student Tech Help Page.
