Dear Parents,
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas break and that the start of 2025 has been filled with joy! The snow days were certainly a surprise, but sometimes the things we can't control offer us the perfect opportunity to teach and practice important life skills with our children. These unexpected changes can remind us of the importance of staying patient, flexible, and resilient.
This month in Friendzy, we’re focusing on perseverance—an essential skill that helps children develop a growth mindset and the confidence to tackle challenges. Perseverance is critical for building problem-solving skills, boosting self-esteem, and fostering the ability to work through setbacks, both in school and in life. When children learn to bounce back and keep trying, they are better prepared to face future obstacles with courage and determination.
I encourage you to look for ways to reinforce perseverance at home, whether by praising effort over outcomes, modeling how to handle setbacks, or encouraging your child to keep going when things get tough.

Happy New Year, Viking families! This month, our Friendzy lesson, "Bounce Back," focuses on building resilience and practicing perseverance—our Virtue of the Month. Life brings its challenges, but with God's help, we can "bounce back" stronger than before.
Our goal is to help students understand that setbacks are not the end of the road but an opportunity to grow in faith, courage, and determination. We are reminded of this in James 1:12:
"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him."
Another key verse to guide us this month is Galatians 6:9:
"Let us not grow weary of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
Parents, join us in fostering a spirit of perseverance at home! Here’s a simple prayer to share with your children during evening prayers: "Dear Jesus, when life feels hard and we face challenges, help us remember that You are with us. Give us strength to keep trying, courage to trust in Your plan, and the joy of knowing that with You, we can bounce back. Amen."
Let’s encourage one another to keep going, keep growing, and keep trusting in God's love and guidance. Together, we can make 2025 a year of strength and resilience!
