Dear Parents,
As we enter the season of Lent, a time for reflection, renewal, and spiritual growth, it’s an opportunity to help our children embrace the powerful traditions of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. These practices can deepen their faith and provide them with meaningful ways to connect with God and others. Below are some ways you can guide your children in making Lent more meaningful.
1. Prayer:
Lent is an ideal time to focus on our relationship with God through prayer. Help your child understand that prayer is a way to speak with God and listen to Him. Encourage them to set aside a few moments each day for quiet prayer. This could be a simple prayer before meals, bedtime, or a short prayer of thanks or reflection in the morning. For older children, you might consider teaching them the practice of daily scripture reading, praying the Rosary, or having family prayer time together. You can also introduce the practice of journaling their thoughts and prayers to reflect on their journey during Lent.
2. Fasting:
While fasting is often thought of as giving up food, it can also be a way to practice self-control and sacrifice in different areas of life. Encourage your children to think about what they might give up during Lent—whether it’s sweets, screen time, or even an attitude such as complaining. Fasting is a way for children to develop discipline and focus on their faith by making small sacrifices. Remind them that fasting isn’t about deprivation but about making space for spiritual growth and drawing closer to God.
3. Almsgiving:
Lent is also a time to focus on helping others. Children can practice almsgiving by giving to those in need, whether it’s donating money, clothes, or food. You can also encourage them to do acts of kindness throughout Lent, like helping a neighbor, writing a letter to someone who may be lonely, or volunteering in the community. The key is to instill in them the joy of giving and serving others, just as Christ gave Himself for us.
Together, these three practices—prayer, fasting, and almsgiving—can provide your children with an enriching spiritual experience that helps them grow in faith, love, and service to others. By creating intentional moments for these practices, we can help our children prepare their hearts for the joy of Easter.
Wishing you and your family a blessed and meaningful Lenten season!
Warm regards,
Allison French

As we enter the month of March, we are excited to continue our Friendzy journey with the theme “Sorted Out”, focusing on the virtue of Respect. This month, our students will explore the importance of treating others with kindness, listening with an open heart, and honoring the guidance of parents, teachers, coaches, and friends.
Through engaging lessons and discussions, students will learn how respect strengthens relationships, builds trust, and reflects the love of Christ in our daily lives. By practicing respect, we recognize the dignity of every person and create a more caring and Christ-centered school community.
We invite you to join us in fostering this virtue at home by praying with your children.
Family Prayer for Respect:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the people in our lives who teach, guide, and support us. Help us to show them respect through our words and actions. Give us hearts that listen, hands that serve, and voices that speak with kindness. May we always honor others as Your beloved children. Amen.
We look forward to a wonderful month of learning and growing together in respect!

Due to publication costs, we have made the tough decision for families to purchase their own yearbook(s). You may have received an email from Inter-State asking if you would like to purchase a yearbook for the 2024-2025 school year. If you would like a St. Albert yearbook for this school year, you will need to place your order through Inter-State. You will have a choice between a hardcover ($26.00) or a softcover ($21.00). You will also have the choice of purchasing a yearbook for each child, or one for your family.
You have until March 14th to place your order. Yearbooks will be delivered in May. Click here to order.
*Eighth graders do NOT need to place an order as the school will provide a yearbook for each eighth-grade student.
The 6th-grade class is working with Neighborhood Forest to provide free trees to each of our students. We are excited to help our school celebrate Earth Day 2025 by planting trees throughout our community. Parents will follow the link to place an order for a free tree for your child/children. The trees will be delivered to school and the 6th grade will send them home with your child before Earth Day. Neighborhood Forest has all the answers to your questions including what type of tree will be sent and how best to plant your tree. The deadline to order your tree is March 15, 2025.
As we journey through Lent, we invite all of our Saint Albert families to participate in our school-wide service project, CRS Rice Bowl, led by our 7th-grade students. This initiative encourages prayer, fasting, and almsgiving while supporting those in need around the world. Each student has been given a Rice Bowl to take home. Please encourage your child to fill it with donations throughout Lent, and return it to school on Holy Thursday. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and live out the spirit of Lent through generosity and service. Thank you for joining us in this important mission!
Hunger Relief in the United States
Your donation to CRS Rice Bowl helps provide lifesaving support to more than 200 million people in more than 120 countries. But did you know your support also helps your local diocese?
Twenty-five percent of every donation stays in your community to fight hunger and poverty, while 75% supports Catholic Relief Services programming around the world.
Jesus, Bread of Life,
As we encounter you in the Eucharist this Lent,
nourish us with your love,
unite us in communion with our sisters and brothers,
showing us how we are connected.
Transform our hearts, that we may be moved to
share bread for life with our global family
and work for a world where all can thrive.
On March 17th, the PTO Student Appreciation Committee will be spreading a little luck and a lot of love with St. Patrick’s Blessings & Treats! Each student will receive a special St. Patrick’s themed treat bag delivered to their classroom, filled with Skittles, a mini-cross, and a St. Patrick’s Day Sticker. We will share a note with each teacher with the Holy Trinity so that as the treat bags are passed out students can reflect on the Holy Trinity. It's a meaningful way to celebrate with a reminder to students of the importance of their faith. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
