Dear St. Albert the Great Families,
Since becoming a parent, you’ve probably heard “the days are long, but the years are short”. Parenting is one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences a person can have. It’s a journey filled with moments of joy and moments of frustration, but through it all, it’s an opportunity for growth and love.
The unconditional love of a parent to a child is one of the most powerful and pure forms of love there is, and the most important thing we can offer. It is a love that knows no bounds, no conditions, and no limits. It’s in the pride a parent feels during their child’s successes and the encouragement offered when they stumble. This unconditional love offers security, knowing that no matter what happens, the child will always have a safe space to land. It’s a love that teaches a child what it means to be accepted for who they are, and it gives them the strength to face the world, knowing that someone always has their back. We often have hopes and dreams for our children, which is natural, but it's important to separate these aspirations from a child's identity. Instead of imposing our own goals on a child, we can focus on supporting our child’s unique strengths and interests.
Parenting is a journey that challenges individuals to evolve, learn, and adapt in ways we may never have anticipated. Raising a child provides constant opportunities to grow in patience, selflessness and emotional intelligence. Parents learn how to navigate their own emotions, while also helping their child understand and manage theirs. Through interactions with their children, parents can learn to regulate their emotional responses and become better at communicating feelings effectively.
In an effort to provide opportunities for support and growth for our parents, we will be offering a parent program through Spalding University next month. Save the dates for the CORE Parenting Program that will consist of 2 sessions on April 8 and April 22 from 6:30-8:30 in the church. This program will provide research-backed strategies to help parents of children at any age stay calm when your kids aren’t. The content will be different at each session, so plan on attending both nights. More information will be provided in next week’s Viking Voice.

As we enter the month of March, we are excited to continue our Friendzy journey with the theme “Sorted Out”, focusing on the virtue of Respect. This month, our students will explore the importance of treating others with kindness, listening with an open heart, and honoring the guidance of parents, teachers, coaches, and friends.
Through engaging lessons and discussions, students will learn how respect strengthens relationships, builds trust, and reflects the love of Christ in our daily lives. By practicing respect, we recognize the dignity of every person and create a more caring and Christ-centered school community.
We invite you to join us in fostering this virtue at home by praying with your children.
Family Prayer for Respect:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the people in our lives who teach, guide, and support us. Help us to show them respect through our words and actions. Give us hearts that listen, hands that serve, and voices that speak with kindness. May we always honor others as Your beloved children. Amen.
We look forward to a wonderful month of learning and growing together in respect!
Mark your calendar for the Annual Spring Showcase on Tuesday, April 15th from 6-7:30! Student artwork from the year will be displayed in the halls. Student work will be in the classrooms. As we journey through Lent, we invite all of our Saint Albert families to participate in our school-wide service project, CRS Rice Bowl, led by our 7th-grade students. This initiative encourages prayer, fasting, and almsgiving while supporting those in need around the world. Each student has been given a Rice Bowl to take home. Please encourage your child to fill it with donations throughout Lent, and return it to school on Holy Thursday. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and live out the spirit of Lent through generosity and service. Thank you for joining us in this important mission!
Hunger Relief in the United States
Your donation to CRS Rice Bowl helps provide lifesaving support to more than 200 million people in more than 120 countries. But did you know your support also helps your local diocese?
Twenty-five percent of every donation stays in your community to fight hunger and poverty, while 75% supports Catholic Relief Services programming around the world.
Jesus, Bread of Life,
As we encounter you in the Eucharist this Lent,
nourish us with your love,
unite us in communion with our sisters and brothers,
showing us how we are connected.
Transform our hearts, that we may be moved to
share bread for life with our global family
and work for a world where all can thrive.

PRAYER TO SAY AT HOME
Lord, we ask that you watch over Pope Francis and grant him the courage, strength and healing he needs. Grant wisdom, compassion, and empathy to those caring for him. Grant that we may have faith in your healing heart and unite us in prayer for all who are experiencing pain or illness. In Jesus’ name we pray.
