Presentation Strands: Bridge real-world learning with technology-enabled curriculum

Technology-enhanced classrooms motivate students to participate and learn actively, leading to an effective process of learning. The utilisation of virtual reality, that affords realistic and immersive experiences, significantly surpasses the possibilities provided by the screening of conventional videos or images and illustrations in the textbook. By getting students to experience and visualize information in a new way, they can deepen their understanding and retain information more meaningfully. This session demonstrates how Google Cardboard and virtual reality videos are used in the Geography classroom. Educators from other disciplines are welcome to draw generalizations for application in their respective teaching areas.

Genevieve completed her undergraduate studies from the NUS Department of Geography. Her keen area of interest is how we can use technology to help students better visualise concepts in Geography, and to take them 'out of the classroom' without having to do so.
