Formative assessment with Seesaw: A versatile learning platform for Physical Education

Assessment for learning or formative assessment is an important part of teaching and learning to help students learn better. Formative assessment with Seesaw: A versatile learning platform for Physical Education. Teachers need to overcome many challenges when they use technology in the classroom. In the context of PE lesson, teachers are often presented with more challenging outdoor environment and dynamic conditions when they use technology in T&L. Seesaw is a versatile and intuitive T&L tool that provides simple solutions to the challenges presented in the PE lesson. With creativity and innovation, teachers can set meaningful assignments using the platform to complement students' learning on top of physical activities. Learning evidence like peer assessment, video analysis, reflection journal and teachers' comment can be easily collected and used to create feedback to improve teaching and learning. Four PE teachers have embarked on this pilot project with selected group of students to explore the potential of Seesaw as a formative assessment tool in PE lessons. The insights gained from students' feedback, teachers' dialogue, review and reflection will help to pave the way for a more enriching PE lessons where students' learning are properly captured and recorded in the form of digital portfolio.
