170th Anniversary
Heritage Exhibition

The St. Paul’s College 170th Anniversary Heritage Exhibition, “Heritage and Dedication”, took place in the bustling Central Market from 8 April to 16 April.

As one of the oldest and most esteemed educational institutions in the region, having been founded in 1851, our College boasts a rich and illustrious history, replete with remarkable personalities and noteworthy past events. The Exhibition documented and publicized important snapshots in history via a wealth of captivating displays and exhibits. These included a vast array of artifacts from our History Gallery in the Wong Ming Him Hall, books chronicling achievements of famous Paulines, and even a 3D model of the future campus showcased in a Minecraft world.

Among the fascinating artifacts were a meticulously handcrafted wooden School Badge, a beautifully printed version of the April 1968 Edition of Scope, and  a comprehensive collection of Hymns by Reverend Moses Wu. The Exhibition of course could not display all of the more than 3000 artifacts stored in the Wong Ming Him Hall, so for those who are keenly interested in the College's rich history and legacy, do not hesitate to visit the School History Gallery in person, or access it virtually through the “Gallery” tab on the Heritage Website.

A notable component of the Exhibition was the 170 St. Paul’s Stories ,a fascinating collection of video interviews featuring over 170 people who have close ties to our school. Filmed over four years, this series encompasses a diverse range of perspectives from teachers, alumni, and former staff members, providing a comprehensive look into our school's history and legacy. In addition to being available on TV screens during the Exhibition, the complete collection is readily accessible to all on the official "SPC Heritage Project" YouTube channel.

Next to the 170 Stories section was the History Tunnel, a collaboration between St Paul’s College and the Hong Kong Museum of Education, Education University of Hong Kong. The tunnel was a portal to the rich and diverse education history of Hong Kong and the storied history of our College, giving visitors a rare opportunity to glimpse into the past and gain a deeper understanding of our roots and origins

Last but definitely not least, a group of eight students brought the School's vision for the Campus Enhancement Project to life in a remarkable Minecraft World.  Over the course of four  years, they have dedicated their time and energy to painstakingly constructing the campus in its entirety, brick by brick, creating a stunning and truly awe-inspiring model that is a sight to behold. A 3D render of the model is currently available for viewing on the Heritage Website.

Although the Exhibition has drawn to a close, the tireless effort that goes into preserving the history of the College certainly has not. Only by passing on the message of inheritance can we—and those who come after us—treasure our 172 years and counting of invaluable history.
