Inter-school Swimming Competition

The heats and finals of the Inter-school Swimming Competition (Division 1) were held at the Kowloon Park Swimming Pool on 28th October and 3rd November. Our athletes, supported by the very vocal Cheering Team, showed great resilience and perseverance in all competitions. Even when swimmers lost, they received only words of encouragement from their teammates.

As our athletes swam, the cheering team in the stands chanted ‘Lighthouse’ and ‘SPC GSG’ wholeheartedly. Eventually, thanks to the hard work of everyone, not only did our school finish a creditable 6th against elite competition, the cheering team captains were interviewed by local newspapers for their outstanding performance. At the end of the competition, students sang the College Song and La Famiglia with our Principal, Mr. Yuen, bringing the event to a perfect close.

Annual Sports Day

As we stepped into December, and the weather turned cooler, it was time for the annual Sports Day Finals, held on the 1st of December at Wan Chai Sports Ground.

The event commenced with the cheering of the six houses led by their captains. Despite the chilly weather, our athletes showed great enthusiasm in the various competitions. Some students who aren’t necessarily great sportsmen also summoned up their courage and took part in the races—more than two hundred students ran the 1500m, proving that not only do our students excel in academic studies, but more importantly, many of them are willing to try different things.

Rosewood achieved a historic “grand slam”, securing the overall champions in all three grades. Oak House won the cheering competition. SCOPE would like to congratulate all of the athletes who tried their best to bring glory to their classes and houses. The annual sports day came to an end with the traditional cheering team chants and the massed singing of the College Song, symbolising our indefatigable brotherhood.
