Venturi North America expects to employ 70 workers and be producing electric cars in Columbus in two years.

The electric vehicle maker from Monaco shed more light on its Central Ohio plans Friday, a day after it publicly disclosed its intention to set up offices and production on Kinnear Road near Ohio State University.

“We won’t invade the U.S. market right away, but we are ambitious,” said Venturi Automobiles President Gildo Pastor. “Our goal is to be a long-term business. ... We want to establish a profitable business here.”
