£5.000 subsidy per Electric car

Purchasers of any of these vehicles could receive a subsidy of up to £5,000 as a reward for contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.

London will invest in nine types of electric vehicle in order to reduce the city's carbon emissions.

On Tuesday the Tory government, with the backing of the Conservative mayor of London Boris Johnson, revealed which electric vehicles would receive subsidies.

They are the Daimler smart fortwo electric drive, the Toyota Prius Plug-in, the Mitsubishi's iMiEV, the Citroen CZero, the Peugeot iON, the GM Chevrolet Volt, the Nissan Leaf, the Vauxhall Ampera and the Tata Vista electric vehicle.
