Danish EcoMove Preps Its New Electric Car

QBEAK

is the name of Danish automaker EcoMove’s all-electric prototype vehicle that has been making news in the green-tech world. The company seems to pushing the all-customizable route that similar companies like Toyota Scion have found useful to promote smaller vehicles to a perhaps younger market.

The vehicle features a center driver’s seat and two other seats on either side that are mounted slightly behind the driver for standard use, but can seat up to six if foregoing cargo space. Electric doors slide open on the car, much like a mini-van, and the the top is removable.

Equipped with built-in wheel electric motors featuring regenerative breaking, and composed of lightweight, recycled material, the QBEAK claims a range of over 185 miles on a full charge.

Currently, EcoMove is only looking to sell the electric vehicles to businesses, but says the ultimate goal is to offer the car to individuals worldwide. The company is offering a refundable reservation for those willing to pay just under $400 to have their name on the advance list, however cars are not expected to be delivered until sometime in 2012.
