THE Border’s first electric car

is sure to make a lasting impression on the region.

Just one of 32 in Australia

and 7000 worldwide, Hume Building Society and Baker Motors have managed to get their hands on the Japanese-made Mitsubishi i-MiEV.

The vehicle costs $65,000,

with hire of the charge station costing $50 a month.

Albury High students won 2010 solar car challenge,

But it wasn’t quite enough to convince the year 9 Albury High students, who won this year’s solar car challenge, and helped yesterday to unveil the vehicle.

“Until someone produces one that’s a fire breathing monster and burns rubber you’re not really going to excite boys,” teacher David Wood said.
